13 Feb
Summary
- Claude AI chatbot surged to the top 10 apps after Super Bowl ads.
- US downloads increased 32% following the commercials.
- App's rank climbed from 41 to 7 on the U.S. App Store.

Anthropic's AI chatbot, Claude, has experienced a remarkable ascent in app store rankings shortly after its Super Bowl commercials aired. The darkly comedic ads, featuring unusual chatbot advice, appear to have resonated with users, propelling Claude from the 41st position to a new high of No. 7 on the U.S. App Store. This surge in visibility is supported by significant download increases. Between Sunday and Tuesday, Claude saw an estimated 148,000 downloads across iOS and Android, a 32% rise from the preceding three days. Daily average downloads also increased by 32% for this period. This success highlights the effectiveness of Anthropic's "no ads" strategy, particularly as competitor ChatGPT began displaying ads to its free users. The app's initial mobile debut in May 2024 had a more modest reception, with significantly fewer downloads compared to ChatGPT's launch. While global downloads also saw a 15% increase, the U.S. market demonstrated substantially higher growth.
