29 Apr
Summary
- Thirty security vulnerabilities have been fixed in recent Chrome versions.
- Four critical vulnerabilities are use-after-free flaws in multiple components.
- Google employees discovered most of the vulnerabilities patched.

Google has issued urgent security updates for its Chrome browser across multiple platforms. Versions 147.0.7727.137/138 for Windows and macOS, and 147.0.7727.137 for Linux, now include fixes for 30 security vulnerabilities.
Four of these vulnerabilities are deemed critical, primarily stemming from use-after-free (UAF) issues in various components. This UAF type is also prevalent in the majority of other patched flaws. A type confusion vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine was also addressed, alongside three medium-risk vulnerabilities.
These patches are essential for user protection, as timely updates prevent exploitation. While Chrome typically updates automatically, users are advised to manually check via 'Help > About Google Chrome' to ensure immediate security. A corresponding update for Chrome for Android is also available.
The Extended Stable Channel has been updated to Chromium version 146.0.7680.216 for Windows and macOS. The next major release, Chrome 148, is anticipated in early May, continuing Google's commitment to browser security.
