Summary

- New cycle aims for faster user access to improvements and fixes.
- This change affects desktop, Android, and iOS stable releases.

Google has announced a major change to its Chrome browser's release cadence, transitioning to a faster two-week cycle. This significant update is set to begin in September, marking a departure from the previous four-week schedule and the decade-long six-week cycle. The primary objective behind this acceleration is to provide users and developers with quicker access to crucial performance improvements, bug fixes, and innovative new capabilities.
This new two-week rhythm will affect the stable releases for Chrome across desktop, Android, and iOS. The first stable release under this accelerated schedule will be Chrome 153 on September 8th. Beta releases will also align with this new bi-weekly frequency. Importantly, the Dev and Canary channels will maintain their current release schedules, and the Extended Stable option for enterprise administrators and Chromium embedders will continue on its eight-week cycle.
