22 Aug
Summary
- A 350-ton electric mining truck, the ZL230E, was launched in China.
- Its 1,400 kWh battery is larger than 23 Tesla Model 3 units combined.
- The truck charges from 10% to 90% in approximately 25 minutes.

A new 350-ton pure electric mining truck, the Zijin Longking ZL230E, has been launched in China. This groundbreaking vehicle weighs 350 tons and is designed for ultra-large open-pit mines, capable of carrying 230 tons of material.
The ZL230E features a massive 1,400 kWh battery pack, reportedly larger than that of 23 Tesla Model 3 units. This substantial battery enables rapid charging, reaching 90% capacity from 10% in just 25 minutes, significantly reducing downtime.
This launch underscores China's commitment to expanding its electric mining equipment sector. Parent company Zijin Mining plans to transition its entire fleet of fuel-powered trucks to electric alternatives within three years to meet carbon reduction goals.
Previously, in early 2026, Longking delivered 15 electric trucks with a 150-ton capacity to Julong Copper Mine, which demonstrated impressive daily transport volumes and improved energy efficiency.
