Summary
- China published a list of 271 national commercial space entities.
- The list includes companies in launch, satellite development, and data applications.

A Chinese government center has published a membership list of 271 entities within a national commercial space consortium. This list, released on July 1, offers a rare glimpse into which companies the state recognizes as key players in its burgeoning space sector.
The consortium, established on April 24, 2025, encompasses nine groups. These include satellite development (79 entities), data applications (44), rockets and launch (41), and technology innovation (18). Emerging fields like direct-to-device communication, commercial human spaceflight, and hypersonic planes are also represented.
Notable inclusions in the commercial launch segment are established players like Expace, CAS Space, and companies that have successfully reached orbit such as Landspace and iSpace. The inclusion of financial services entities suggests dedicated capital and insurance channels are being formalized.
This initiative, coordinated by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) under the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND), aims to disseminate policy, facilitate supply and demand, and promote self-regulation.
In a related development, CNSA released a policy blueprint in November 2025 to accelerate commercial space development. The consortium is expected to serve as an instrument for steering the sector, especially in the absence of a dedicated space law, with potential for future expansions.
