- ChatGPT Pro users can now link bank accounts via Plaid.
- The tool analyzes spending, portfolios, and future financial plans.
- OpenAI aims to expand this feature to Plus subscribers later.

OpenAI has introduced a new personal finance tool available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the U.S. This preview feature allows users to connect their financial accounts using Plaid, a service that supports over 12,000 institutions.
The integration enables users to ask ChatGPT about their spending habits, portfolio performance, subscriptions, and upcoming payments. It also offers capabilities for future financial planning, such as preparing for a home purchase.
This new offering leverages the expertise of the team OpenAI acquired from the personal finance startup Hiro. The company is working to integrate with Intuit, which will allow for more complex analyses.
OpenAI noted that hundreds of millions of users already query ChatGPT about financial topics monthly. The enhanced GPT-5.5 model's reasoning capabilities are considered crucial for handling these sensitive queries accurately. User data security is addressed by allowing connections to be removed, with synced data deleted after 30 days.
Initially available on the web and iOS for Pro users, OpenAI intends to refine the tool based on feedback before extending it to Plus subscribers.
