ChatGPT Now Sends Texts for You on Mac

Summary

ChatGPT integrates with Apple Messages on Macs.
AI can search conversations and draft replies.
Users must approve recipients and message content.

ChatGPT's desktop application for Apple Silicon Macs now features an integration with Apple Messages. This new functionality allows ChatGPT to access and interact with conversations, including iMessage, SMS, and RCS messages, once user permission is granted.

Users can ask ChatGPT to search message history or compose new messages. Before sending, the AI prompts for user approval of recipients and content, ensuring control. This feature offers a competitive edge over rivals such as Claude, which can assist in drafting messages but cannot send them directly.

While convenient for simple tasks like sending a quick update, the integration is currently limited to macOS and does not extend to iPhones. This development highlights the growing trend of AI assistants handling everyday, time-saving tasks.
