Broadcom Unleashes Wi-Fi 8 for Enterprise Networks
9 Feb
Summary
- New chipsets integrate Wi-Fi 8 radios with wired Ethernet switching.
- Focus on stability, latency, and multi-device performance.
- Chips feature advanced security including post-quantum cryptography.

Broadcom has unveiled a comprehensive suite of Wi-Fi 8 chipsets for enterprise environments, extending beyond just radio components to include access point processors and Ethernet switches.
The BCM49438 processor and radio chips like the BCM43840 are designed for future enterprise access points, handling system control and wireless transmission. Simultaneously, the Trident X3+ BCM56390 switch chip offers multi-gigabit ports and advanced security features, including post-quantum cryptography and secure boot.
This new infrastructure aims to provide a unified approach for real-time data collection across wired and wireless segments. It supports wireless time-sensitive networking, crucial for reducing latency variation and enhancing network stability, especially as enterprises increasingly rely on AI for critical operations and security.
