Summary
- New QC Headphones are lighter with updated, comfortable headband design.
- Improved noise-canceling performance and enhanced sound quality noted.
- Bose Immersive Audio and USB-C audio are key new features.

Bose has launched its new QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), presenting a significant refresh from their predecessors. These headphones are lighter, weighing 230 grams, and feature a redesigned headband with increased padding and smooth adjustment sliders for enhanced comfort. The earcups are more plush and oval-shaped, contributing to a more seamless profile.
Noise-canceling performance sees slight improvements, with the six-microphone system better compensating for earcup seal gaps, beneficial for glasses wearers. While not reaching the elite level of the flagship QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), the noise cancellation is very effective, and the Awareness mode sounds natural.
Feature upgrades include the addition of Bose's Immersive Audio with head tracking, previously exclusive to the Ultra series. They also introduce two-way USB-C audio, enabling high-quality wired listening and clear voice input for calls and conferencing. Battery life remains rated at up to 24 hours with noise canceling active.
Sound quality is noted as improved, with enhanced treble clarity and a pleasant warmth, though they may not satisfy extreme audiophiles. The Immersive Audio mode offers an expanded soundstage, with 'still' and 'motion' options, plus a 'Cinema' mode for focused dialogue.
Voice-calling performance is a mixed bag; adequate in quiet settings but challenged in noisy environments. Callers noted more background noise leakage compared to other premium models. Despite this, the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) remain a highly comfortable option with strong noise cancellation and pleasant sound, ideal for frequent travelers seeking a less expensive alternative to top-tier models.
