20 Jun
Summary
- BOE's new factory in China has begun mass production of OLED panels.
- These panels are for monitors, laptops, and other devices.
- The new production aims to lower OLED prices, challenging LG and Samsung.

Mass production of BOE's Generation 8.6 OLED panels has officially started at its new facility in China. This milestone event, celebrated in Chengdu, was attended by major players in the laptop, monitor, and smartphone industries, including Asus, Lenovo, MSI, Honor, and Xiaomi. The factory is designed to produce 32,000 substrates monthly, enabling the creation of more economical OLED screens.
The new technology allows for larger substrate sizes, reducing waste and production costs. This initiative is expected to make OLED displays for laptops, monitors, and other devices more affordable. BOE's entry into the market intensifies competition for established OLED manufacturers like LG Display and Samsung, potentially leading to reduced pricing across the board.
Beyond cost savings, BOE's new tandem OLED panels offer enhanced durability, lasting three to four times longer than single-layer panels. They also boast improved power efficiency, consuming 20% to 30% less power, which is particularly beneficial for mobile devices like laptops.
