Founded by Harvard Law student David Lawrence, ex-Google engineer Amit Patankar, and retired Boston police deputy chief Michael Gropman, the company addresses the critical need for instant access to department rules. Blue Voice has emerged from stealth mode with $6 million in funding, led by SignalFire and Las Olas VC. The platform is now a daily tool for officers in 225 county agencies across 25 states. Unlike general AI models that can be inaccurate, Blue Voice is trained on specific laws, ordinances, and department guidelines, providing officers with precise, regulation-backed information.

This innovative technology answers a query every minute, empowering officers with confidence by referencing original regulations. Blue Voice has demonstrated significant growth, with its customer base expanding elevenfold in the past year due to tangible results like reduced crime and fewer controversies. The startup recently aided in preventing a kidnapping and ensured a chief adhered to proper procedure regarding an officer's return to duty.

Blue Voice competes with established players like PE-backed Lexipol and has also developed capabilities for cold case investigations. Amidst growing criticism of AI in policing, Blue Voice aims to prove that AI, when deployed responsibly, can enhance public safety without compromising civil rights. Lawrence, who left law school to pursue this venture, views it as the most impactful contribution he can make.
