Summary
- New kit retrofits buses and trucks with radar and camera safety tech.
- Aims to reduce accident risks and lower operating costs for fleets.
- South Korean firm targets global markets including US and India.

Bitsensing, a South Korean radar startup, has introduced an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) kit aimed at retrofitting existing commercial vehicle fleets. The kit integrates radar sensors and cameras to enhance driver awareness, particularly beneficial for buses and trucks that face challenges with large blind spots and extended braking distances. This technology seeks to significantly cut accident risks and operational expenditures for fleet operators.
The company has initiated a pilot program with Koreawide Express Group in South Korea, equipping over 500 intercity and city buses with the new system. Bitsensing CEO Jae-Eun Lee noted that many existing commercial vehicles lack essential sensors, creating a market opportunity for retrofit solutions.
Expanding its reach, Bitsensing is actively discussing deployments in the United States, India, and Taiwan. The startup is also engaging with insurers to explore how data from retrofitted fleets can substantiate premium reductions by demonstrating fewer accidents. Beyond road vehicles, Bitsensing is exploring applications for its radar technology in delivery robots and autonomous ships.
