The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is spearheading the creation of the Bengaluru Global Water Innovation Network (BGWIN). This international platform aims to establish Bengaluru as a premier global hub for water innovation.
Central to this initiative is a proposed Centre of Excellence, featuring a Technology Innovation Hub. This hub will concentrate on cutting-edge solutions, including AI-driven predictive analytics, smart metering, decentralized water treatment, water reuse technologies, and advanced utility management.
The network intends to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, such as water utilities, government bodies, academic institutions, research organizations, industry leaders, startups, investors, and civil society. A key function will be the pilot-scale testing of new technologies to mitigate investment risks and enhance adoption.
This strategic move is designed to bolster urban water management in Bengaluru by promoting innovation, technology adoption, and international partnerships. The long-term objective is to position Bengaluru as a globally recognized leader in water innovation and a model for urban water security, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals.
