Planning permission has been granted for a new £40 million innovation hub in Belfast, dedicated to medical technology and digital healthcare. The Centre for Digital Healthcare Technology (CDHT), a Belfast Region City Deal project led by Ulster University, will establish an innovation center and a community living lab.
This new facility on Frederick Street will foster the development of advanced medical technologies. It will integrate expertise in engineering, data science, and clinical practice, with capabilities in areas such as AI, surgical robotics, and diagnostics.
Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald highlighted the project as a priority for growing the digital healthcare sector. The center is expected to enhance Belfast's global reputation for digital healthcare research and innovation, reinforcing Northern Ireland's position at the forefront of medtech advancements.
