Summary
- Audible launches a lower-priced Standard membership plan.
- The plan costs $9 monthly and includes one audiobook selection.
- It offers unlimited listening from a curated library of originals.

Audible, owned by Amazon, has launched a new Standard membership plan, providing a budget-friendly option for audiobook and podcast enthusiasts. This new tier, priced at $9 per month in the US, grants access to one audiobook selection that stays in the user's library as long as their subscription is active. Additionally, the plan includes unlimited listening from a curated library featuring Audible Originals and approximately 200 popular titles previously available on Wondery Plus.
The introduction of the Standard plan occurs amidst increasing competition in the audiobook market. Services like Spotify offer integrated audiobook listening hours within their premium subscriptions, while apps such as Libby allow free borrowing through public libraries. Audible's existing Premium Plus plan remains available at $15 per month, offering a monthly credit for any audiobook in their catalog.
The new Audible Standard membership is immediately available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, and France, with plans for expansion into additional markets soon.
