Asus is expanding the appeal of OLED monitors beyond gaming with its new PA279CDV, priced at $699. This 27-inch display aims to bring the benefits of OLED, such as superior contrast and color, to content creators and home office users.
Key to its appeal is its High Dynamic Range (HDR) performance. The monitor achieved a peak brightness of 1,038 nits in a 1% window and 917 nits in a 4% window, offering a more immersive visual experience.
While the display offers excellent color gamut coverage, with 91 percent of Adobe RGB and 98 percent of Display P3, some users noted issues. Specifically, macOS users experienced reduced color accuracy and had to limit the refresh rate to 60Hz to enable HDR.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the PA279CDV provides a robust port selection, including dual USB-C with substantial power delivery, making it a versatile choice for workstations. The adjustable stand also enhances its ergonomic appeal.
