6 Oct
Summary
- Firmware update adds Sound Edit menu for deep parameter control.
- New multisampled instruments enhance realistic acoustic sounds.
- Free update brings advanced sound design to existing keyboards.

Arturia has significantly enhanced its AstroLab stage keyboards with the release of the AstroLab 2.0 firmware update, now available for free. This update transforms the instrument from a preset browser into a powerful sound design tool, allowing users to edit individual parameters directly on the hardware. While some menu diving is required for advanced editing, creating custom sounds is now readily achievable, with users able to save initialized patches from the AnalogLab desktop application as templates.
The AstroLab 2.0 also introduces 67 new patches, featuring a collection of multisampled instruments. This includes improved piano, string, and brass sections, addressing a previous weakness and bringing the AstroLab closer to its competitors in acoustic realism. Arturia has also implemented several quality-of-life improvements, such as more responsive aftertouch and clearer octave LED displays for transposition. However, the mobile connectivity via the AstroLab Connect app reportedly remains inconsistent.
