On September 10, 2025, Apple officially unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 17 series, which includes the standard iPhone 17, the premium iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, as well as an all-new model called the iPhone Air - touted as the thinnest iPhone yet.
The new lineup is priced between ₹82,900 and ₹2,29,900 in India, with the base iPhone 17 model starting at ₹82,900 - notably lower than the previous generation iPhone 16 Plus. However, the higher-end Pro and Pro Max variants are significantly more expensive in India compared to the US market, with price differences ranging from 26% to 29%.
According to a Reddit post, the iPhone 17 base model costs ₹70,512 in the US, compared to ₹82,900 in India - a difference of over ₹12,000. The gap widens further for the Pro and Pro Max models, with the iPhone 17 Pro costing ₹37,913 more in India and the Pro Max priced ₹44,088 higher.

Interestingly, Apple is manufacturing the entire iPhone 17 series in India, with production taking place across various facilities of its suppliers in the country, including Foxconn and Tata Electronics. This suggests that the pricing disparity may not be solely due to manufacturing costs.
As the new iPhones hit the shelves in India on September 19, 2025, Apple's latest offerings are sure to generate significant interest among tech enthusiasts and consumers alike, despite the apparent pricing differences between the Indian and US markets.
