Siri's Overhaul Delayed Again, Maybe iOS 27?
12 Feb
Summary
- Next-gen Siri development faces snags, pushing features back.
- New Siri capabilities may arrive across iOS 26.5 and iOS 27.
- Apple prioritizes functionality over disappointing users with delays.

Apple's ambitious plans for a significantly upgraded Siri have hit further development roadblocks, potentially delaying its full integration until iOS 27. Sources suggest that recent internal testing has revealed processing and speed issues, prompting Apple to reconsider its rollout strategy.
Originally intended to debut new functionalities with iOS 26.4 in March, the features may now be dispersed. Some capabilities could appear in the upcoming iOS 26.5 update expected in May. The more comprehensive overhaul, however, is now anticipated alongside the iPhone 18 series and a foldable iPhone in September, potentially within iOS 27.
Announced at WWDC 2024 as part of Apple Intelligence, the new Siri has faced multiple setbacks. While Apple stated in 2025 that the features would arrive in 2026, internal targets for March 2026 now seem unlikely. The company is reportedly prioritizing a polished experience, willing to delay to avoid customer disappointment.
These forthcoming Siri enhancements aim to deepen app integration, allowing the assistant to perform tasks across multiple applications. An example demonstrated Siri extracting information from a photo of a driver's license to populate a form. The latest released update, iOS 26.3, offers minor new features including a tool to aid Android switchers.
