Apple Vision Pro Production Halted?

Production support for Apple's Vision Pro headset has reportedly been suspended, raising questions about the future of the mixed reality device less than two years after its initial 2024 launch. This development follows earlier reports from earlier this month indicating a substantial cutback in both manufacturing and marketing efforts, with marketing budgets allegedly reduced by as much as 95%.

The scaling back and alleged production halt appear to stem from underwhelming sales figures. The headset, which launched at a high price point of $3,499, may have struggled to maintain its reputation despite the Apple brand. Economic factors throughout 2025, including tariffs and rising prices, may have also contributed to consumer hesitation.

While rumors persisted about an Apple Vision Pro 2 with upgraded features and a potential price reduction, these plans may have been supplanted by the iterative M5 version released last October. A lighter, more affordable "Vision Air" model was also reportedly in development for a 2027 release, but its prospects now seem uncertain.
