Apple Sports Widgets Now in CarPlay

The latest update to Apple Sports introduces widget support for CarPlay, a feature previously absent. This allows drivers to follow live sports scores and schedules through new widgets integrated into the iOS 26 version of CarPlay. Users can select a league widget for general scores or a team widget for specific favorites, though real-time score progression was observed to have a slight delay during testing.

This new widget interface is considered less cluttered than the Live Activities feature, enabling multiple widgets to be displayed side-by-side. Additionally, the Apple Sports app has been enhanced with new features for Formula 1 fans, including weather conditions and track data like temperature and wind speed. The app is also prepared for the upcoming World Cup, enabling users to track favorite teams and view group stages before the tournament begins in June.
