Apple is exploring new foldable smartphone designs, with recent rumors indicating that engineers are currently testing a flip-style foldable iPhone. This development emerges alongside expectations for a book-style foldable iPhone, tentatively named the iPhone Fold, which is anticipated to launch later in 2026.
However, the future of the flip foldable remains uncertain, as Apple has not yet committed to mass production. This strategic exploration of dual foldable form factors suggests a significant push into the evolving foldable market, potentially mirroring the success of compact devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series.
The iPhone Fold's specifications and design reportedly leaked earlier this month, with a possible September debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro. If mass-produced, the iPhone Flip could follow soon after, further diversifying Apple's product lineup in the competitive smartphone landscape.
