Apple is set to release a new feature called iPhone Handoff with the upcoming iOS 27 update, scheduled for September 14, 2026. This innovative function will enable users to utilize a single eSIM number across two compatible iPhones. The feature will first be accessible to T-Mobile subscribers in the United States and Deutsche Telekom customers in Germany.
T-Mobile has announced that this convenience comes at an additional cost, with users being charged $5 per month to access iPhone Handoff. While the two iPhones cannot operate with the same number concurrently, T-Mobile subscribers will have the flexibility to choose which device is active and switch between them at any time.
Calls, voicemail, messages, and the Find My service will automatically transfer to the currently active iPhone. Additionally, iCloud data and third-party applications will synchronize across both devices. Users can set up iPhone Handoff through their device's Settings menu, navigating to Cellular and selecting the transfer option. A confirmation message will appear on the screen when the number has been successfully switched to the chosen iPhone.
