Apple's Hide My Email Exposed User Emails

Apple has addressed a critical vulnerability within its iCloud+ Hide My Email service that inadvertently exposed users' obscured email addresses. The issue, which allowed for the retrieval of these hidden emails under specific circumstances, was first reported in early July. Apple stated that a software patch released on July 3rd has completely rectified the vulnerability.

Prior to the patch, a rejected spam message could reportedly reveal an iCloud+ user's email address. However, some experts suggest that the risk may not be entirely eliminated, as non-malicious emails could bounce and mail transfer logs might retain exposed information. Apple faces a proposed class action lawsuit alleging deceptive practices related to this privacy feature.
