Apple announced at WWDC 2026 that significant AI-powered enhancements are coming to Apple Home this fall. The updates, compatible with iOS 27, macOS 27, and iPadOS 27, aim to streamline user experience, with some features requiring an iCloud+ subscription.
Key among these are AI-driven notification summaries, which will consolidate activity alerts into a single digest, similar to message summarization. HomeKit Secure Video cameras are also receiving a substantial upgrade, moving from 1080p to 4K resolution. Furthermore, these cameras will feature searchable video history, allowing users to find specific events using natural language queries.
The interface for viewing camera footage is being redesigned to resemble the Apple Photos app, with highlighted "Noteworthy" clips. While these features promise added value, their ultimate impact may depend on iCloud+ subscription pricing, as observed with similar offerings from competitors.
