Apple is rumored to be planning the launch of a new, more affordable MacBook in spring 2026. This strategic move aims to capture a larger market share by appealing to students and budget-conscious buyers.

The upcoming model is expected to be powered by an A18 Pro chip, designed to offer sufficient performance for daily computing needs while keeping costs down. This device may also see the eventual discontinuation of the older, yet still available, M1 MacBook Air.

Significant for its cost-saving measures, the new MacBook is anticipated to omit Thunderbolt support, opting instead for standard USB-C ports. This decision could impact data transfer speeds and external display compatibility for users.
