Apple AI: Top Features Locked to New iPhones
10 Jun
Summary
- Advanced AI features require newer Apple silicon.
- iPhone 17 Pro models get the full Apple Intelligence experience.
- Siri AI beta will exclude the European Union and China at launch.

Apple's latest iOS 27, launching this fall, will offer advanced AI features, but access will be restricted to newer devices with more powerful silicon. Senior Vice President Craig Federighi confirmed that only the most capable iPhone, iPad, and Mac systems will support these cutting-edge AI capabilities.
The exclusive features, including enhanced on-device AI models for expressive voices and advanced dictation, will be available on the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. iPad models with M4 or later and Macs with M3 or later chips will also gain access, provided they have at least 12GB of unified memory. Apple Vision Pro with M5 will also be included.
While older devices like the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro will receive a significantly upgraded Siri AI experience, including a dedicated app and writing tools, they will miss out on the most advanced voice customization and dictation overhauls. Furthermore, the Siri AI public beta, scheduled for release in the fall, will not be available in the European Union or China at its initial launch.
