Summary
- Anomalith is a third-person survival shooter set in a retro Japan.
- Players use real-time gun combat and scavenged resources.
- The game features a unique world design inspired by liminal spaces.

Anomalith, a departure from publisher FuRyu Corporation's usual RPGs, is slated for release on October 29, 2026. This third-person survival shooter transports players to a twisted, retro-inspired vision of Japan, where they will navigate deadly anomaly zones as protagonist Reona Minazuki.
The core gameplay loop involves real-time gun combat, careful inventory management, and strategic use of limited ammunition. Each mission operates on an extraction-shooter-like format, with players upgrading their gear using scavenged resources between runs. Minazuki also possesses mutant powers, a result of exposure to the supernatural environments.
Producer Gai Kidokoro pursued this project out of personal passion for the third-person shooter genre. The game boasts extensive weapon customization, allowing players to modify parts and attachments for statistical bonuses. Additionally, Artifacts can be scavenged to enhance character stats, offering a hack-and-slash-like element.
The world design is a significant focus, with development teams meticulously crafting "Otherworlds" to evoke "anxiety and fear lurking within familiar scenery," inspired by concepts like liminal spaces and the Backrooms. The soundtrack also contributes to the unsettling atmosphere with dark, instrumental tracks.
While featuring a teenage protagonist, a common motif in FuRyu's titles, the team prioritizes elements essential for player enjoyment over direct imitation of influences. Anomalith will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and PlayStation 5.
