AMD & Meta Forge AI GPU Alliance
24 Feb
Summary
- AMD and Meta expand partnership for AI infrastructure deployment.
- AMD Instinct GPUs and EPYC CPUs to power Meta's AI needs.
- Meta receives warrants for up to 160 million AMD shares.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Meta have solidified a significant multi-year strategic partnership, agreeing to deploy up to 6 gigawatts of AMD GPUs for Meta's artificial intelligence infrastructure. This collaboration marks a substantial expansion of their existing relationship.
The initial deployment, supporting one gigawatt, is slated to commence in the second half of 2026. It will utilize a custom AMD Instinct GPU based on the MI450 architecture, alongside 6th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs codenamed "Venice."
This initiative will be built upon the AMD Helios rack-scale architecture, a joint development by AMD and Meta through the Open Compute Project. It's designed to enable scalable, rack-level AI infrastructure.
As a key incentive, AMD has issued Meta a performance-based warrant for up to 160 million shares of AMD common stock. This warrant is structured to vest as Meta achieves specific milestones related to Instinct GPU shipments, starting with the initial one-gigawatt deployment.
Meta is already a significant user of AMD EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs, and will be a lead customer for 6th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs, including the "Verano" processor. AMD anticipates this partnership will drive considerable multi-year revenue growth and positively impact earnings per share.
