AMD EPYC 9965 CPU: Nearly 60% Off on eBay!

As of June 30, 2026, AMD's high-performance EPYC 9965 CPU is being offered on eBay for a striking price of under $6,000. This server-grade processor, initially launched with a suggested MSRP of $14,813 and later reduced to $11,988, provides a significant cost saving of over 60% off its original price and nearly 50% off its current advertised price.

The EPYC 9965 stands out with its 192 Zen 5c cores and 384 threads, supporting up to 6TB of RAM per processor, making it ideal for AI-centric workloads and cloud providers seeking maximum virtual machines per rack.

While server CPUs often trade below MSRP, this steep discount for a relatively recent and still unchallenged chip suggests potential reasons such as excessive inventory, canceled orders, or a market shift towards GPUs and memory for AI needs. Buyers should also be aware of potential vendor-locking issues with third-party sellers.

Despite a general industry trend toward GPUs and memory, enterprise consumers continue to purchase the EPYC 9965. However, their preference for direct OEM solutions and the potential complexities of third-party purchases, including secure boot verification, may contribute to the availability of such deals on platforms like eBay.
