Amazon AI Now Offers Health Advice to All
12 Mar
Summary
- Amazon's Health AI expands from One Medical to most customers.
- The AI answers health questions and offers wellness guidance.
- It can also help with prescription refills and connecting to doctors.

Amazon is broadening access to its virtual healthcare assistant, Health AI, making the tool available to most customers via its app and website. Previously exclusive to One Medical members, the feature is rolling out to all users across the United States over the coming weeks. Health AI is designed to answer general medical questions and offer wellness guidance based on a user's health history, current medications, and specific conditions. For more tailored insights, users have the option to grant the assistant access to their medical records.
Beyond answering queries, the assistant streamlines healthcare tasks such as managing prescription refills through Amazon Pharmacy and scheduling appointments with One Medical providers via messaging or video calls. While other tech companies like OpenAI and Anthropic have introduced similar health-focused AI tools, Amazon emphasizes that its system is HIPAA-compliant and intended as a support tool rather than a replacement for professional medical advice. It can interpret data, such as explaining cholesterol results, or check for potential drug interactions. If the AI is uncertain about a clinical recommendation, it is programmed to direct the user to a human healthcare provider.
Amazon Prime members can take advantage of an introductory offer that includes five free direct-message consultations with a One Medical provider. These benefits can also be extended to family members through specific Prime plans. Outside of this offer, telehealth sessions are priced at $29 each. For those requiring more frequent care, annual One Medical memberships are available for $99, with the option to add family members at a discounted rate.
As with any AI technology, it is important to verify health information with a qualified professional. While Health AI offers convenience for navigating routine medical questions and administrative tasks, it serves as a bridge to clinical care rather than a definitive diagnostic tool.
