Amazon's new lifestyle TV, the Ember Artline, officially launches in the U.S. on Wednesday, April 22, with preorders now open. This 4K QLED television aims to compete with Samsung's The Frame by doubling as a display for artwork. It is available in 55-inch and 65-inch models, priced at $899.99 and $1,099.99 respectively, and features 10 interchangeable frame colors.
The Ember Artline offers free access to a library of over 2,000 art pieces, spanning various artistic movements and including commissioned motion videos. This extensive collection is available without any additional subscription costs. The TV also includes an AI-powered 'Match the Room' feature, which suggests artwork based on a room's decor and colors from uploaded photos.
Users can also display personal photos and slideshows by connecting the Ember Artline to their Amazon Photos account. A key differentiator is its matte finish, enhancing its appearance as artwork compared to traditional glossy screens. This makes the Ember Artline Amazon's most direct competitor to Samsung's popular The Frame. It is positioned as a more affordable alternative to Samsung's offering, as well as other competing art-displaying TVs from Hisense and TCL.
While rivals like The Frame lock extensive art libraries behind subscriptions, the Ember Artline provides its vast collection for free. However, potential buyers should note that the Ember Artline has a 60Hz refresh rate and lacks Dolby Atmos support, making it less ideal for serious gamers or cinephiles compared to its higher-spec competitors.
