19 Jun
Summary
- The new Akai MPC One is priced at $699, significantly cheaper than its predecessors.
- It features a 7-inch multitouch display and 16 velocity-sensitive pads.
- The MPC One lacks a rechargeable battery but offers CV/Gate functionality.

Akai has introduced the MPC One, a new standalone music-making workstation designed to be more accessible.
This compact device shares many features with its siblings, the MPC Live and MPC X, including 16 velocity-sensitive pads and a multitouch display. However, the MPC One distinguishes itself with a more affordable price tag of $699, a significant reduction from the $1,000+ models.
To achieve this lower cost, Akai made some strategic cuts. The MPC One does not include a rechargeable battery, impacting its portability. It also features reduced storage at 4GB and fewer ports, opting for CV/Gate jacks instead of aux outputs.
Despite these reductions, the MPC One is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, four touch-sensitive rotaries, MIDI I/O, and 2GB of RAM. Expandable storage via USB flash and SD cards is available. It also comes with preloaded drum samples and loops, alongside Akai's AIR FX plug-ins.
Akai positions the MPC One as an ideal entry point for new producers or those hesitant about the cost of previous standalone MPCs. It is designed to be the central hub for a 'DAW-less jam' studio setup. The device was set to be available in February 2026.
