Apple's New AirPods 5 Launch: Price Drop, Enhanced Sound

Apple unveiled its fifth-generation AirPods, presenting two distinct models. Both variants now boast enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), with Apple claiming a significant 50% noise reduction in loud environments, positioning it as the leading ANC for open-ear designs. Internally, a redesigned acoustic architecture and an adaptive equalizer promise superior audio performance over previous iterations.

The more premium AirPods 5 model introduces enhanced stem controls, an additional hour of battery life, and a wireless charging case. The base AirPods 5 offer four hours of listening time, extending to 20 hours with the case, while the enhanced version provides five hours of listening. The new AirPods 5 are available for preorder now, with a launch date of September 18, 2026. They also integrate with Apple services, offering upgraded AI-powered Siri and Live Translation on iPhone. The base model is priced at $129, while the enhanced version is $149, a reduction from the prior generation's $179 for ANC-equipped models.
