AI Use Soars, Training Lags: Workers Seek Answers
30 May
Summary
- 28% of workers use AI regularly, but only 16% received employer training.
- Over half of employees were not consulted on AI integration in their roles.
- Workers seek AI advice from social media, not their employers.

As of May 30, 2026, new research indicates a substantial rise in artificial intelligence adoption within the American workforce. Approximately 28% of employees report using AI tools multiple times weekly. However, this rapid integration is not matched by employer support, with only 16% receiving formal AI training.
This disparity is causing concern, as 56% of surveyed workers have never been consulted about how AI is integrated into their specific roles. Such a lack of guidance and potential for 'shadow AI' adoption raises significant security risks for companies. Consequently, only a small fraction of employees (9%) turn to their employers for AI advice, preferring instead to rely on social media, news, and personal networks.
Nearly two in five (38%) workers are now actively seeking more comprehensive AI training and strategy from their employers. This demand presents a critical opportunity for organizations to acknowledge worker needs, provide enterprise-grade AI solutions, and establish clear governance. Failing to address these gaps risks widening the divide between AI-proficient and lagging employees, while undetected security vulnerabilities persist.
