AI Outpacing Cloud Security Defenses
29 May
Summary
- 77% of organizations updated cloud security strategies due to AI.
- Only 26% possess architectures capable of enforcing these new strategies.
- 78% of organizations reported AI-related security incidents last year.

The rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence is overwhelming existing cloud security infrastructure, a new report reveals. Organizations are struggling to keep pace, with 77% updating their cloud security strategies in response to AI, yet only a quarter (26%) have the architectural capabilities to implement these changes effectively.
This disparity has tangible consequences, as 78% of businesses experienced confirmed or suspected AI-related security incidents within the last year. AI is increasingly weaponized in attacks, moving faster than traditional security models can handle.
Challenges include infrastructure misalignment, perimeter gaps, and performance issues, with 52% of AI workloads spanning hybrid environments and many architectures needing redesign. Furthermore, 76% rate datacenter security as critical for AI, but only 35% find their systems capable of supporting current trends.
Operational complexity and limited visibility exacerbate these issues, with 88% reporting increased complexity and 24% unable to confirm incidents due to a lack of visibility. To combat these growing threats, a unified, prevention-first architecture across all layers is urgently needed.
