Summary
- New radar detects small drones and swarms with AI.
- System identifies targets as small as birds or compact drones.
- Sokol-08 radar station weighs under 28 kg, uses minimal power.

Russia's Rosel Holding Company has unveiled the Sokol-08 radar station, a new system integrated with machine learning algorithms specifically engineered to detect small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drone swarms.
This highly portable radar system requires no special site for deployment and can detect up to 100 objects simultaneously. Its sophisticated AI algorithms are capable of classifying targets, effectively filtering out harmless objects and minimizing false alarms.
The Sokol-08 can identify targets as small as a bird or a compact commercial drone. It operates in either a 360-degree scan or a 90-degree sector mode, adapting to tactical needs. The station boasts high autonomy, with a satellite navigation module and inclinometer for automatic position determination and tilt compensation.
Weighing less than 28 kg and consuming up to 35 W of power, the Sokol-08 is a key component of Rostec's developing layered anti-drone defense concept.
