A novel solution to AI-driven privacy concerns is emerging from Japanese startup Verne Technologies. They are developing the Wearphone, a noise-canceling mask engineered to safeguard the privacy of voice interactions with AI chatbots and during calls. This innovative mask is designed to significantly muffle a user's voice, offering a dedicated peripheral for private digital communication.
The Wearphone employs both active noise cancellation and physical soundproofing to achieve its goal, promising a reduction of 10 to 20 decibels. Beyond AI prompts, it's also pitched for confidential phone calls and virtual meetings in public spaces. While requiring the user to wear a mask, Verne Technologies emphasizes its stylish design and comfort, with integrated UV cleaning for its detachable parts.
Verne Technologies plans to release the Wearphone in June or July, with an optional $19-per-month subscription to enhance speech recognition via AI. Though only a mock-up was displayed at CES Unveiled, the company is actively building a waitlist for interested consumers eager to secure their private AI conversations.
