Andrew Ng Warns: AI Disruption Looms for Indian IT

Andrew Ng, a prominent AI scientist, has alerted India's vast IT services industry to the imminent threat of job disruption due to artificial intelligence. He stresses that professionals must swiftly acquire new AI skills, or face significant displacement. Ng noted that those who master AI tools will become dramatically more productive than their counterparts, urging immediate attention to upskilling initiatives across the nation.

Ng also addressed the burgeoning hype around Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), cautioning that current large language models are not a direct path to human-level intelligence. He asserted that despite consuming immense data, these models remain inferior to humans in many aspects, and claims of imminent AGI are misleading. Ng believes that achieving true AGI would require substantial future breakthroughs.
