The overall growth in AI chatbot usage is substantial, with web visits to all leading platforms increasing by 76% annually, while mobile app sessions have seen a sevenfold increase. ChatGPT alone accounted for 6.3 billion visitors in September, representing 76% of all traffic to generative AI platforms, with Google's Gemini following at over one billion users.
Furthermore, the demographic of AI chatbot users is expanding. While younger users (18-34) still form the majority, their share has decreased to 53% in 2025, with users aged 45 and above now comprising nearly 30% of usage. Despite its leading position, OpenAI is reportedly concerned about maintaining market share amidst strong competition.
