Summary
- Acer USB-C hub offers 4K@60Hz HDMI output for smooth visuals.
- It supports 100W power delivery, keeping laptops charged.
- The hub adds USB-C and USB-A ports for versatile connectivity.
Modern laptops are shedding ports, making hubs essential. Acer's 5-in-1 USB-C hub, currently discounted to $15.97, provides a cost-effective solution with versatile connectivity. It features an HDMI 2.0 port capable of outputting 4K resolution at a smooth 60Hz refresh rate, a significant upgrade from lower-spec adapters.
The hub also supports 100W USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 input, allowing it to pass through approximately 90W to charge laptops under demanding use. Users need to supply their own 100W charger and cable to achieve maximum power delivery.
For data transfer, it includes a USB-C 3.0 port and a USB-A 3.0 port, both operating at 5Gbps. An additional USB-A 2.0 port is included, ideal for wireless mouse or keyboard dongles, minimizing potential interference.
Constructed with an aluminum shell that acts as a heatsink, this compact hub is designed for durability and heat dissipation. It is compatible with Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS, and has been tested with various devices including MacBooks, iPads, and Dell XPS laptops.
It's important to note that the hub requires a full-featured USB-C port supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode. Ports that only handle charging will not enable HDMI output. This model omits Ethernet and SD card slots to maintain its compact size and affordability.
