Abode Launches Outdoor & Garage Security Sensors

Abode has introduced its first entirely new security sensors in some time, expanding smart home protection to outdoor areas and garages. The new lineup includes an Outdoor Contact Sensor, priced at $50, and a Garage Tilt Sensor for $35, both designed to work with Abode security hubs. These sensors aim to bolster perimeter security, addressing often-unmonitored access points like gates and garage doors.

The Outdoor Contact Sensor boasts an IP66 weather-resistance rating, making it suitable for external use on gates, sheds, or fence entries. It features a wider detection range than indoor models. The Garage Tilt Sensor, with a battery life of up to 10 years, monitors the orientation of garage doors or similar objects, notifying users of any movement. Both sensors incorporate anti-tampering technology to alert users if removal is attempted.

These new additions from Abode also facilitate deeper smart home integrations and automations. Users can create custom routines, such as automatically closing a garage door left open or changing a smart light's color to indicate an open gate. This development aligns with a growing trend of more versatile, multi-purpose sensors in the smart home security market, offering enhanced control and peace of mind.
