11 Oct
Summary
- Wu Yibing criticized Alexander Zverev's on-court conduct.
- Yibing cited falling, complaining about lights, and net tape issues.
- Zverev won their Shanghai Masters match in straight sets.
At the Shanghai Masters, Chinese player Wu Yibing has called out German competitor Alexander Zverev for his conduct during their recent match. Yibing expressed that Zverev's actions, including reportedly falling, complaining about court lights, and interacting with the net tape, detracted from a pure competition.
Zverev, who received a bye in the first round, defeated Yibing in their round of 64 clash. The German secured the first set 6-4 and clinched the second set in a tie-break, 7-6(4). Yibing suggested these actions were Zverev's attempt to disrupt his rhythm under pressure.
Looking ahead, Alexander Zverev is scheduled to compete against Quentin Halys in the third round of the Shanghai Masters. Halys advanced by defeating Alexander Blockx in a three-set match. Zverev has a historical advantage over Halys, having won all three of their previous encounters in the 2026 season.
