Zay Flowers: Ravens' Explosive WR Sets Unprecedented Pace
7 Oct
Summary
- Flowers ranks second in NFL with 19.6 yards per reception.
- He leads the NFL in Yards Per Route Run and Yards Per Target.
- Flowers has been deployed in the slot 60% of the time this season.
Ravens receiver Zay Flowers is making an audacious start to his season, proving more explosive than any in franchise history. He has been impactful despite a hamstring injury, playing only one half in Week 1, missing Week 2, and having a limited role in Week 3.
Even after quarterback Lamar Jackson's injury in Week 4 and facing offensive line challenges, Flowers' performance is remarkable. He ranks second in the NFL with 19.6 yards per reception and fourth with 117.3 yards per game. Advanced stats show him leading the league in Yards Per Route Run (6.29) and Yards Per Target (16.00).
A significant factor in his success is his increased deployment from the slot, now used 60% of the time compared to 37% last season. This shift, along with more motion and occasional backfield snaps, has unlocked his potential, making him a primary threat for the Ravens offense.
