Atlanta Falcons rookie wide receiver Zachariah Branch clarified the origin of his viral 26 MPH treadmill speed. Branch, a former USC and Georgia player, explained that the video captured him in 2022, during his active high school track and field career at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
At the time of the treadmill video, Branch was running a 10.3 in the 100-meter dash. He described the overspeed treadmill as a machine that safely pushes athletes beyond their natural sprinting limits. Branch also noted he hit 24.5 MPH on the treadmill during NFL Combine training and later recorded a 4.35 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in April, though he aimed for faster.
Branch, the Falcons' third-round pick at 5-foot-9 and 177 pounds, is expected to bolster the Atlanta offense with his athleticism and shiftiness. He has also trained as a return man during offseason activities. Branch and other Falcons rookies will report for training camp on July 24, 2026, with veterans arriving on July 28, 2026. Practice commences on July 29, 2026.
