With their season hanging in the balance, the Yankees have made significant lineup changes for ALDS Game 3 against the Rays. Manager Aaron Boone opted for a revised batting order in an effort to avoid elimination.
Anthony Volpe is set to start at second base, and José Caballero will take over at third base. These moves replace Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ryan McMahon, who had struggled offensively and made defensive errors. Trent Grisham has been placed in the leadoff spot as the team searches for a much-needed spark.
Caballero's start marks his first postseason appearance and comes against his former club. His speed and defensive capabilities are expected to be assets at third base. Meanwhile, Volpe earns another start at second, having previously started over Chisholm in the wild-card series.
