Christian Toetzke, the visionary behind the multi-billion dollar fitness sport Hyrox, is now setting his sights on challenging CrossFit's dominance. Toetzke, alongside business partner Moritz Fürste, has launched Xenom, a new competition inspired by CrossFit. This venture aims to tap into the massive global community of CrossFit practitioners.
Xenom, billed as the 'Decathlon of fitness,' kicked off its first event in June at the Dallas Cowboys' Ford Center. The competition spans two days and comprises 10 varied events, many of which are drawn from CrossFit's training regimen. Following its Dallas debut, Xenom has scheduled events in London, Miami, and Paris, signaling its intent to capture the attention of CrossFit devotees worldwide.
This new venture has already garnered significant financial backing, securing $15 million in capital, with notable investors like Jeffrey Katzenberg's WndrCo and Dropbox's former CFO, Sujay Jaswa, participating. This investment underscores the confidence in Xenom's potential to replicate the rapid growth and success of Hyrox, which has become a major player in mass-participation fitness events.
