West Virginia's basketball team is making significant moves on the recruiting trail, securing commitments from both high school prospects and transfer portal additions. The Mountaineers have welcomed class of 2026 guard Keonte Greybear and center Amadou Seini. They have also acquired Florida State transfer guard Martin Somerville and managed to retain promising freshman guard Amir Jenkins.
The coaching staff, led by Ross Hodge, is now targeting additional players for the three and four spots on the floor. Notably, Utah transfer forward Seydou Traore recently completed a visit, and sources indicate West Virginia is in a favorable position to secure his commitment soon. Traore, a well-traveled player, averaged 11.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game in his freshman year at Manhattan.
Despite a reduction in minutes during his subsequent season with Iowa, Traore remained productive. He averaged nine points, 3.4 rebounds, two assists, and 1.2 steals per game for Utah in his most recent season, where he notably scored 17 points against West Virginia. Traore has one year of eligibility remaining, making him a potentially impactful addition for the Mountaineers.
