Wushu Star's Suicide Threat Over Asian Games Ouster

An 18-year-old wushu athlete, Divyanshi, has threatened to take her own life following her last-minute removal from India's Asian Games contingent. In a video posted on Friday, September 11, 2026, Divyanshi alleged she was unfairly ousted and mentally harassed at the national camp.

Divyanshi claimed her name was cut without explanation, and she was not allowed to present her side or medical reports. The wushu federation cited an ACL injury detected during a medical examination as the reason for her removal. However, Divyanshi's coach, Ashok Gautam, refuted this, stating the injury was minor.

Divyanshi further accused another player, Roshibina Devi, of deliberately injuring her during training to secure a spot in the team. Coach Gautam supported these claims, stating Divyanshi had consistently ranked first in trials and that Roshibina, an Arjuna awardee, used her influence to replace Divyanshi. Gautam also questioned Roshibina's own eligibility and injury status.

According to reports, Roshibina Devi, who won a silver medal in the previous Asian Games, has been included in Divyanshi's place. Gautam argued that Roshibina does not meet the selection criteria, lacking international medals within the last two years.
