Summary

- WSU's defense features ten transfers on the defensive front.
Washington State opens its season against rival Huskies with a new defensive coordinator, Trent Bray. Bray, formerly of Oregon State, is known for employing a hybrid defensive front that mixes odd and even schemes to keep offenses off balance. He has a proven track record of developing standout linebackers.
This year's WSU defense sees substantial changes, with ten transfers joining the defensive front and seven in the secondary. Key players expected to contribute significantly include linebackers DJ Warner and Keith Brown, and cornerbacks Khamari Terrell and Jalil Tucker. The team's effectiveness will depend on how quickly these new players can integrate and master the playbook.
The offensive line, featuring new starters and a true freshman at left tackle, faces a significant challenge against Bray's scheme. Success in the trenches will be crucial for controlling the game's pace and setting up the passing attack. Washington State hopes this defensive overhaul can bring stability after a tumultuous period.
